Do I need the GIST software to use the Content Enhancement Templates(i.e....Course, Unit, Concept Comparison, Question Exploration)?

Yes, the templates in GIST are .cet files and to open and work in the this file type you must have the GIST software installed on your computer.

Does the GIST software come with Content Enhancement Routine Templates?

The GIST software comes with Course, Unit and Lesson Organizer Routines Templates. Users can create their own devices from a blank page. The other Content Enhancement Routine Templates that work in GIST can be purchased in the Products section under Content Enhancement Routine Templates at the .gistplan.com website.

What is the My Organizers folder in GIST?

When the GIST software is installed on a computer it automatically creates a folder called the My Organizers folder. The My Organizers folder is installed in the My Documents or Documents folder by default. Files that are saved or moved into the My Organizers folder will appear in the GIST program's Portfolio section. The files that are in the My Organizers folder and Portfolio section can be use by the GIST program in variety of way such as linking, re-organizing, re-naming, deleting and opening.

Do other software programs work with the GIST program?

Yes, other program files such as PDF, Word, Excel and PowerPoint can be opened by a direct link from a GIST/.cet file as long as that program's software is installed on your computer. File types other than GIST will also appear in the Portfolio section of GIST if the files are placed in the My Organizer folder.

How is the GIST software licensing setup?

The GIST software is offered as a per user basis, called a multi-user license, which allows a user to install the software on any computer they own or use at work including school, personal laptop and home computers. The GIST software is not sold as a site license unless GIST is purchased for all the teachers in a school in which case we will allow for installation on all machines on site.

Does GIST version 1 files work in GIST version 2?

Yes, GIST version 1 files will work in GIST version 2, this includes the version 2 Reader. GIST file types for both version are still .cet file. Note, GIST version 2 files may not necessarily work in GIST version 1 as some of the new symbols and text doesn't translate to GIST version 1 older programming code.

What is a .ctz file or GIST zip file?

A .ctz file(content enhancement template zip) is a GIST folder that is zipped up and unzipped in the GIST program. A .ctz file can contain GIST/.cet files, other software file types (i.e..Word, PowerPoint & Notebook) and folders.
