What may I do with my GIST licenses? How many people may use a license?
Per the license agreement:
2. Permitted Uses and Restrictions. Permitted uses consist solely in the ability of Licensee to load, or install, the Software onto all computers owned by the school and physically located in or, for mobile computing devices, temporarily removed from the school and to execute the loaded Software for use in accordance with its intended purpose by the faculty of the school in their capacity as such, and to load the Software onto said faculties' personal computers and to execute the loaded Software for use in accordance with its intended purpose by said faculty in their capacity as such.
Any use not expressly allowed for by this Agreement is strictly prohibited absent written authorization for such use from Licensor. In particular, non-permitted uses include but are not limited to loading the Software onto a computer that is not owned by the school and neither physically located in the school or, for mobile computing devices, temporarily removed from the school nor the personal computer of a faculty member of the school; allowing the Software to remain loaded on a computer that is no longer owned by the school and neither physically located in the school or, for mobile computing devices, temporarily removed from the school nor the personal computer of a faculty member of the school; executing the Software on a computer that not owned by the school and neither physically located in the school or, for mobile computing devices, temporarily removed from the school nor the personal computer of a faculty member of the school; or using, allowing a faculty member to use, or allowing others to use the Software in a manner that is not in accordance with its intended purpose by said faculty in their capacity as such.
Licensee is prohibited from sharing the Software with a third party who is not subject to the terms of this Agreement. If Licensee sells or otherwise transfers ownership of its copy of the Software (as may be allowed under the so-called "First Sale" doctrine), the purchaser thereof will be subject to this Agreement and Licensee must make the purchaser aware of this Agreement.
Licensee is prohibited from reproducing the Software, preparing derivative works based upon the Software, or performing any other actions not expressly allowed for by this Agreement, expressly authorized in writing by Licensor, or allowed for by the fair use provision of the Copyright Act, as set forth in 17 U.S.C. §107.
Licensee shall ensure that the school and the faculty do not violate this Agreement. This duty may include but not be limited to posting notices regarding conduct that is allowed and conduct that is prohibited under this Agreement and policing use of the Software by the faculty both on school computers and on faculty members' personal computers.
Any use of the Software in violation of this Agreement may constitute copyright infringement. Copyright infringement can result in both civil and criminal liability, including fines and incarceration.
How do I pay for my licenses?
The GIST Store's current focus is making it easy for you to download the latest versions of GIST software and templates. At this time we do not process credit card or purchase order information online. When your order is approved you will be contacted by a Velvet Bridge representative for payment.
